Summertime in The Town

Hello my Peeps,
The weather is beautiful, the people are out and there are activities and events galore!! Juneteenth Festival was this past Sunday. I had a ball. It seems they did not have any rap groups performing. That may have kept the chaos from happening. There were a lot of “OG’s” there. It was mellow. They had a bandstand with entertainers near the Alcatraz intersection and another bandstand neat Fairview and MLK. People brought their game/lawn chairs, food, drinks and totally kicked back. I saw many people I had not seen in ages. It’s always good to see “blasts from the pasts,” the OG party peeps. Luv ’em. AND, I learned that the Berkeley High All School Reunion will be at San Pablo Park on August 22nd. Another fun event. I left home WITHOUT my camera. We only walked about 3 blocks of the Festival and back.

We found a pretty good BBQ company – CJ’s BBQ at the festival. He has a shop in Richmond, Vallejo and Fairfield. The food was BANGIN! We actually sat on the curb of the street to eat it, too. It was so good I went and found his shop in Richmond the following day and had some more BBQ. CJ’s actually has good sides (except his potato salad). His baked beans were screamin’, the cole slaw was different, not bad, just different and good macaroni salad. the chicken and hot links were the B O M B !!! That’s why I HAD to find CJ’s the next day for some more.

I saw a very dear friend, Doreatha Evens at the Festival. A WONDERFUL woman. She was truly heaven sent. I met Doreatha on a cruise. She was my roommate on this cruise. I never met her before then. My mother was buried 2 days before this cruise. I had the first evening meal with my group. I let them know I probably would not be the best company due to my mothers recent death;thus, don’t look for me to be hanging out. Anyway, Doreatha was THE BEST roommate. She is a God fearing woman and prayed me up the whole time. It was wonderful to see her. She has had a makeover and looks MARVELOUS!! She’s a great singer, too.

Until next time, enjoy the summer. Many more concerts, festivals and the 4th of July festivities are on the horizon. Make the best of it, have fun and be safe.
Ciao
