Are you living your best life? I am when I am traveling. I love to learn through travel. Cuba – to see communism in action, Brazil – the Brazilian Africans (Afro-Brazilians), big introduction to me of the African Diapsora, Hong Kong – OMG, the millions of people, I see why they don’t think nothing of stepping on your feet or bumping into you, Africa – WOW, the tribe I orignated from and how the west has devasted the continent. So many different people, cultures and different lifestyles
We are blesssed in so many ways and oh, far too spoiled. We take a lot for granted – fresh water to drink, Walmart, grocery stores, the money to buy things, a welfare system and a medical system. I believe ALL Black Americans should go to any country in Africa. National Geograph is not enough. TV is not enough. Steve Harvey’s comic narration about his trip to Africa is close, yet, still not enough.
Traveling outside of the USA offers AWESOME exposure to the many different cultures. I would encourage all college students to get into a program that offers international education. There is a progam that allows the student to study in a different counrty every year. TOTALLY AMAZING!!! Nothing like that existed for Black folks in America in the 60’s. Where there is a will, there is a way. NEVER let money hold you back. If you say ” you can’t,” you’re right – you won’t.
In October, 2020 everyone will need a Real ID to get on a plane to fly anywhere. so, while you are jumping through hoops for that, get your passport, too. NOT the passport card because it has restrictions – you can only go to Mexico, Bermuda or Canada and not even not by plane!! So, what good is it?? So, Make sure to get the passport book.
There is a lot of world to see, a lot of different people to meet and a lot of new stuff to do. Expand your mind. Break the chains that bind you to what is familar and the same ole same ole. You don’t have to go with me but, I encourage you to go! Don’t wait on your friends, you will never go anywhere and forever kick yourself in the butt.
